Description:
This is a very good Civil War era Colts Patent powder flask for the 1851 Navy Colt, the 1861 Navy Colt, or the 1860 Army Colt. This flask is in very good condition for an early Civil War flask. The canon and flags and Colts Patent markings are very prominent. It has a few small dings consistent to Civil War usage. Above the rifles on the front, there is a very shallow dent (or slight indentation) that cannot be seen except in certain light and does not show in both pictures of the front. But I caught it in correct light in one front picture. This flask is slightly over 6 and 1/2 inches tall from the bottom to the top of the flask. The seams are perfect! The brass-banded top is held onto the copper body with 3 tiny, steel screws. The beveled spring and gate work perfectly. The slanted spout screws off easily.
There is no lacquer left but it has a old deep and beautiful patina. This was cased with a nice 1851 Navy Colt. I did not include this picture lest someone think all was for one price. This is a very attractive flask that would display well with any Civil War collection.
