This rifle has a shiny, and very shootable bore. The wood is intact and the buttstock is developing some age cracks behind the receiver. These should be attended to before shooting the rifle. Action works beautifully and its has traces of its original bluing. Not many of these still exist in their as issued configuration, and they are getting harder and harder to find. (This rifle also represents a fascinating period in history in which two giants in gun making, Christian Sharps and Hugo Borchardt, were working together, before Borchardt went back to Germany where he later developed what eventually became the Luger.)
The rear sight is in good condition and isnt all beat up. The barrel is roll marked " The Old Reliable" and has the Sharps address in front of the receiver.
