We have for sale a very neat old Marlin 39A .22 lever action. The Marlin 39A is widely considered one the best lever action .22's ever produced. They will shoot all 3 sizes of .22 rimfire; short, long, and long rifle. This model started life in 1891 as the Marlin Model 1891, the first lever action ever chambered for the .22 rimfire cartridge. Several model changes and redesigns later it became the Model 39A in 1939. What did not change over those years was Marlin's first class build quality and reputation for reliability. Those qualities have made the 39A the best selling lever action .22 in U.S. history. This example, serial number c726, was manufactured in 1946. It is pre "Micro Groove" rifling and has the Ballard style rifling instead. Many shooters believe that the Ballard style rifled guns are more accurate then the Micro Groove models that came after. It has the early large walnut forearm, a pistol grip style butt stock, no cross bolt safety, and it was factory drilled and tapped for a rear receiver mounted peep/target sight. This Marlin 39A has been re-finished at some point in its lifetime and is in great shape. It rates a solid 95%. The stock is in fair condition with a crack in the wrist. Overall, this is a really neat vintage Marlin that has a lot of character and class and would be a blast to shoot and hunt with. We have priced it to sell!
