The Ruger® SR-556® Takedown® Semi-Auto Rifle operates with a patented chrome-plated, two-stage, piston-driven operating system, featuring a multi-stage regulator, to provide an ultra-reliable, cleaner, cooler running firearm with superior operating endurance. The piston-driven operating system is ideally suited for a takedown rifle, with the interface between the transfer rod on the upper receiver and the gas block and piston on the barrel assembly as the perfect location to separate the barrel from the upper receiver. At the heart of the SR-556 Takedown's design is simplicity—it takes mere seconds to assemble or disassemble the rifle into 3 main components that fit into a normal-sized daypack. The takedown mechanism provides a repeatable point of impact. The SR-556 Takedown comes with the Ruger Elite 452™ AR-Trigger that delivers a crisp 2-stage pull with a full-strength hammer spring. A chrome-lined mil-spec 41V45 chrome-moly-vanadium steel barrel ensures accuracy, with minimal maintenance. The barrel comes with a Ruger flash suppressor mounted on 1/2"-28 threads. The lower receiver of the SR-556 Takedown is fitted with a Magpul® MOE® grip and a MOE SL® collapsible buttstock on a mil-spec buffer tube. A lightweight KeyMod™ handguard reduces overall weight and provides plenty of attachment points for aftermarket accessories. The rifle features a full Picatinny rail mounted with front and rear folding iron sights. The Ruger SR-556 Takedown Semi-Auto Rifle comes with a convenient carry case.
