This 58 caliber percussion Model 1861 rifle-musket by Parkers' Snow & Co. is dated 1863. It is believed to be a product of the James Mulholland contract of 1861 of which 5,502 were delivered. The 40"" round barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. All metal is bright and clean. The barrel, which is dated 1863, has the usual V over P over eagle proof marks and a small inspection P on the side. The lock has an eagle above U.S. and PARKERS' SNOW & CO. 0ver MERIDEN, CONN. to the right. The lock tail is dated 1863. The stock, which appears to have a light finish coat added, is fine with sharp edges, minimal wear, no chips or cracks, and two strong inspectors stamps on the left flat. The action functions correctly. This musket is fit for the finest collection.
