Metal is gray with no finish. Rear sight has been replaced and primer door screw replaced too. The door won't stay closed when the hammer is cocked. Otherwise in good condition with no serious pitting and matching serial numbers. When you drop the breech block when it's loaded powder will get into the forearm and you will have a small explosian that will split the forend as was done to this one. Original wood was glued back. May be missing some primer parts but a very rare carbine when martially marked. Good .54 bore with strong rifling. The metal has minor pitting overall in spots, see photos. These were used by the 1st and 2nd US dragoons. SOLD Antique: Yes |
