FLUID STEEL HAMMER 30" SHOTGUN. Serial number "27XX" and matching to barrels, forarm(including wood) although buttstock a suitable replacement although never checkered at wrist as the original would have been. Buttstock currently configured for modern dimensions so not your typical old world drop of comb. Original forearm has been sanded with a small sliver of wood missing from left side just above wedge/key but still has original serial number stamped underneath. 30" fluid steel barrels choked approx Light mod and Light mod with 2 9/16 chambers. Original rib with crisp Remington/Ilion address. Bores are good with NO deep pits or anomolies. 14 1/8" length of pull over original steel buttplate from double triggers. Traces of original blue and case colors remain on receiver but some pitting about plate where front of triggerguard screws into along with rear replaced frame screw. Triggerguard tang screws have been filed somewhat along with tang itself probably to remove some old heavy corrosion(make a nice cosmetic refinish project). Re-stock a very nice inletting job with no gaps. Receiver with original hammers and original screws sound. Working order with no play in two stop hammers. Lifter lever locks up nice and tight(tight on face) with original screws. I would think this would make stock nice project if someone had the time and since the rest of the gun is good to go(and the fact it has fluid steel barrels and a replaced buttstock) it’s a good buy for the classic Remington Whitmore Lifter. Weighs 9lbs so probably waterfowl gun of it's day with thick barrel walls. SOLD Antique: Yes Shotgun Gauge: 12 Gauge |
