Description:
This is an extremely nice, all-original and matching double maker-marked and unit-marked Nazi Police bayonet complete with it's original scabbard and frog.   It was manufactured by the well-known Alexander Coppel knife-making firm in Solingen Germany and is double-marked with a large company trademark of the scales with ACS stamped on one ricasso, and the reverse stamped with the full company name and Solinger in a semi circle around a smaller version of the ACS scales.  This double trademark dates this police bayonet as being made during the Weimar period prior to the Nazi's taking over Germany, and issued once again during the Nazi period.  This long-pattern bayonet is unit marked on both the crossguard and scabbard throat to "S.E.I. 250", identifying this scabbard and bayonet as original to each other and issued to the Schutzpolizie Property, Administrative District Erfurt, Duty Location I, Weapon Number 250.  The Schutzpolizie or Schupo translates to the Reich Protection Police or German State police and thir duties included protecting the Reich, criminal investigation and arrest, and administration of policy.  This particular bayonet is in very good condition overall and is very handsome.  As you can see from the pictures, the Stag handles are very attractive with lots of "bark" and color, and the Nazi Police Eagle device is in great shape and tight to the handle.  All of the maker marks and unit markings are crisp and clean, and the blade retains most of the original plating.  The original tip is still intact on this balde, and the blade has never been sharpened, bent, or chipped.  All of the fittings on this bayonet are tight without any wiggle.  The original scabbard is also in excellent condition overall, with the original intact metal throat and protective tip intact, and the leather of the body in good shape.  The original matching frog still looks very nice as well with soft and flexible leather, but is missing one small rivet and has some loose stitching on the upper corner of the leather scabbard throat.  The frog is just fine as-is or could be repaired or glued if the new owner so chooses.  The back of the frog is very nicely marked with the maker's name "F. Steinbach" and the city in which it was made.  This G.I. bring-back police bayonet would be an excellent addition to any Third Reich weapons collection, and is perfect for display alongside a Nazi Police Luger or WW2 German pistol of any type.
