Description:
This appears to be a period engraved piece, with carved ivory grips. The raised panel on the left grip appears to be an image of General Grant in uniform. Serial number 34056, the gun was manufactured in late 1864 or early 1865, near the end of the Civil War, and was possibly ordered as a gift for a Union veteran or soldier. The gun retains about 40-50% of an original gold wash finish. The right grip is cracked, but not separated. The action is good and the bore is fair. It comes with a period wood case, which is in good condition. This is a very attractive cased engraved S&W #2.
