Purdey s x s shotguns are considered to be the finest double guns ever produced.  With the Beesley self-opening action and meticulous hand fitting of metal and wood, the Purdey is the zenith of the London gun trade.  Here we have a wonderfully maintained Purdey 12 bore that has retained most all its fine fit and finish for over 123 years!  Purdey gun serial number 14626 was built in 1893 and is still fully in proof with its 2 ½” chambers, bore diameter of .729, and the 30” Sir Joseph Whitworth barrels ringing like church bells with tight ribs and choked IC/M by American terms.  This fine Purdey weighs in at 6lbs. 11oz. and balances just in front of the hinge pin for that perfect slight weight forward feel.  The gun is in incredible condition, with the barrels tight as new on the breech face and on the hinge pin, bores are perfect mirrors, the screws are perfect, engraving sharp and clear and perfectly executed.  The wood-to-metal fit, checkering, and wood finish are superb as well.  The gun still retains 65% case colors on the action and 99% London blue on the barrels.  The mechanics are excellent with crisp triggers and strong, well-timed ejectors, and a positive safety.  What a fine antique London Best for your shooting needs and investment opportunity.  Even the stock dimensions are modern and very shootable with a 14 ¼” LOP terminating in a fine, Purdey-style leather covered pad.  Being offered at a very attractive price and still in remarkable condition, this is a gun you can carry with pride, and it comes in an English made Brady case fitted to the gun.  This gun qualifies as an antique, being made in 1893, and as such can be shipped directly to any address in the U.S. that you specify.  Perfect for American style upland hunting and sporting clays, a fine Purdey side by side will command attention from even the most astute collector/shooter anywhere in the world.  With the English double guns at their lowest prices in decades, this is the time to finally treat yourself to the acknowledged BEST OF THE BEST.  You can finally justify owning a Purdey!  Thanks for looking.
