Description:
General Specs: Springfield, .58 Caliber, 7lbs 5oz
Serial Number: NSN

An excellent condition example of the "Artillery" Model 1861 Rifled Musket.  Likely a post-Civil War model made from surplus parts with new-made stocks. Probably made for the thrifty post-war market for Western expansion, State Militia groups, Military Academy's etc. Bore is great, lock functions perfectly, wood is outstanding; very shootable or collectible.  With correct period ramrod.  We get to see many Civil War era firearms and muskets made shortly thereafter and have not seen one this clean and original condition with not restorations evident.  Look at the screws, wood-to-metal fit, and even the trigger still has most of the factory blue intact.  THIS IS A GREAT MUSKET!  Thanks for looking.
