MAUSER - German built older Sporting rifle in 30-06
The gun is probably early 50s from the ‘marks’. The receiver is totally coin-finish engraved – tasteful but not deep nor complex. Floor plate has a nice buck gane scene in coin finish and the trigger guard with a small animal within a shield as if some sort of makers mark. Front sight is a long ramp and rear is simple V, Has 3 X 7 Pecar claw mt optics that are clear. Most scopes don’t survive this long still attached to the gun. Genuine European claw mt scopes are just plain unaffordable to the average person today. Has decent fine multipoint checkering and an extra recoil bolt just behind the forend. The wood is pretty plain with numerous very slight handling marks and double shadow cheek piece and original finish with Sling swivels. Bolt handle is engraved. Tang slide safety. Set triggers function well. Metal finish is about 100% . Was probably built for some occupying military officer. Notable are these barrel identifications.
