Payment Types Accepted: M/C, VISA, American Express and Discover Description: " This U.S. Model 1879 Springfield trapdoor 45 Government caliber (45-70) rifle is circa late 1883/early 1884. The 32 5/8"" barrel has a fine bore with bright, strong rifling and a little frosting in the grooves. It is equipped with the correct fifth type Model 1879 rear sight. All metal has a smooth blue/brown patina with the exception of the buttplate which has moderate pitting. The case colored receiver, breechblock, and tang have turned silver with some staining. the stock is good with a couple of dents on the left above the trigger, missing wood around the buttplate tang, and various issue dents and dings. The cartouche is visible but is unreadable. The swivels and ramrod are present. This is a good representative Model 1879 trapdoor rifle which still retains the correct rear sight. SOLD Antique: Yes |
