Description:
RARE Remington 12-B Gallery Special Pump Rifle, caliber 22 Short only, with standard features of 24" octagon barrel, 15-shot magazine, hammerless, open sights, plain walnut stock, half pistol grip butt stock and ribbed fore arm, marked "GALLERY SPECIAL" on the left side of receiver, classic tear drop shaped ejection port, take down frame, curved steel rifle butt plate, patent dates on top of barrel and "22 SHORT" caliber marking on left upper barrel flat, serial number 36261, made in 1915.
CONDITION: All metal surfaces are a plum patina with some dings and marks. All markings are clear. Fore arm in good condition with only minor handling marks. Butt stock has a tight 2 1/2" crack coming off the top right from the receiver and a tight 1 1/4" crack coming off the lower tang, otherwise sound with normal scratches and dings from using, retaining 50% of the original factory varnish. Bore has evident rifling but is frosty, should still spin a bullet fine and would benefit from some shooting and cleaning. Action is tight and does lock up correctly. Original open sights are present; rear sight is missing the elevation adjustment screw. Push button safety on trigger guard is present and functioning. Take down feature is tight with no wobble. Grades NRA Modern Good and seldom seen for sale. With the Remington factory in Ilion (about 45 minutes from my house) permanently closed, these older Remington firearms are quickly going up in value and becoming collectors prizes, so don't miss out on this piece of American gun-making history!
