Description:
The Marlin 1894 Cowboy was introduced in 1996. It should not be confused with the later Model 1894CB Cowboy (2017) or the earlier Model 1894CL (1988-94). Despite the official model name of 1894 Cowboy, the barrel is stamped “Cowboy Limited”. This has often led to confusion with the older 1894CL, which was also called the Cowboy Limited. The newer 1894 Cowboy Limited is chambered for the classic .45 Colt introduced back in 1873 along with the Colt Peacemaker. The .45 Colt was very popular in its day. Like the later .45 ACP, the .45 Colt was, and still is, an excellent man stopper. As mentioned, the .45 Colt was also offered in the Colt Peacemaker revolver, allowing the owner the option of owning both rifle and pistol in the same caliber and thereby simplifying ammunition requirements. The .45 Colt is generally loaded with bullets in the range of 250 to 255 grains. With the rise in popularity of Cowboy Action Shooting, the .45 Colt has seen a well-deserved resurgence in popularity. The Marlin 1894 “Cowboy Limited” features a 24-inch octagonal barrel, a full-length mag tube, and wood furniture with the stock having the Old West-style straight grip. The rifle has the traditional blade front sight with a gold bead for better visibility. The original buckhorn rear sight stood in the way of the Marble tang peep sight, so it has been replaced by a flip-up rear sight. The original buckhorn rear sight is currently stored in the box for the Marble tang sight. The rifle is in great condition though it has some minor wear. The stock has some minor wear marks lower left-hand side. Other than that, the rifle is in excellent shape. The bluing is in roughly 99 percent condition. The bore is perfectly spotless.
