<<<SOLD>>>An early ornate Flintlock pistol of about 17th or 18th century often used by Pirates with a working lock and very strong mainspring. These early guns are not safe to fire as we don;t know th condition of the breech plug. Overall it is about 18" with a 11" octagonal barrel of about .62 cal. Common for the times and these were usually made in France, Italy, Spain, or England.This early flintlocks had wire inlays and the more fancy; the higher the rank of it's owner. The brass furniture of this exaample is cast, and the side plate is war drums, cannons, flages, etc. The top of the barrel has chisel engraved LONDON as well as cross scepters of London proofs.Most of these guns didn;t survive are they went to the bottom of the sea in naval engagements. or were smashed to peices in a fight as the gun would fire one shoot, and the brass skill crusher butt-cap was used as a club! When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost.
