Description:
Another fine “ESTATE” firearm offered by Dust 2 Dollars. We offer you a Colt 1903 Type III Pocket Hammerless .32 Auto Semi-Automatic Pistol Manufactured 1916.
Despite the title ‘Hammerless’, the M1903 and M1908 pistols do have a hammer. It is just covered and hidden from view under the rear of the slide. This allowed the weapon to be carried in and withdrawn from a pocket quickly and smoothly without snagging’ I.E. “Pocket Pistol”. The left side of the slide is marked “PATENTED / APR. 20, 1897. DEC. 22, 1903”, COLT’S PT. F.A. / MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. / with the Colt logo at the rear of the slide. The left side of the frame is marked “200979”. The right side of the slide is marked “COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS”. The magazine floor plate is marked “CAL. 32 / COLT”. It has the original magazine that is often referred to by the term “Two-Tone”. This is a result of the tempering process that Colt used. After the magazine was blued it was dipped in a cyanide bath at a temperature of several hundred degrees in order to temper the feed lips. The result was that the bluing at the top was removed where the magazine was dipped into the bath hence the two-tone finish. The pistol is in very fine condition with the grips having no chips or cracks as most will after 104 years of use. The bore is excellent with no issues and functions just fine. $899
