SHILOH SHARPS 1874 NO.1 SPORTING RIFLE IN .40 2 1/2" (.40-70 STRAIGHT) CALIBER WITH 30" HEAVY HALF-OCTAGON BARREL. This handsome Shiloh with serial number 46XX was made in the early 1980s in Farmingdale, New York factory before moving to Montana. The bottom of the barrel under the forearm has a matching serial number to the receiver and the top of the barrel has later Shiloh markings which leads me to believe that this rifle was returned to Shiloh for a rebarrel to the current configuration and caliber as well as having Shiloh custom bed the forearm to the barrel. This one is fitted with extra fancy burl walnut, pistol grip, cheek piece with accent line, shotgun butt. and double set triggers. It is also fitted with an MVA (Montana Vintage Arms) Long Range Soule tang sight and a #112 windage adjustable globe/spirit level front sight. There is no rear sight dovetail on the barrel. Weight of this one is right at about 11 1/2 lbs. Condition is excellent inside and out showing little use. The sights alone would cost over $750. This rifle if ordered today would cost over $3800 plus a two year wait. My price on this one is
