Description:
Another fine “ESTATE” firearm offered by Dust 2 Dollars. We offer you a “RARE” Marlin model 27 (not a 27S) pump action rifle chambered in 25-20 W.C.F. and was made in 1910.
This is the early Model 27 (not the much more common 27-S) that was manufactured in 1910 making it 110 years old. This is a takedown rifle that has a disassembly knob on the left rear of the receiver and a thumb screw on the right front. This rifle is chambered for the .25-20 Winchester cartridge although the barrel is marked ".25-20 M" (Marlin actually invented the .25-20 by necking down the .32-20 Winchester two years before Winchester introduced the cartridge and put their name on it). The octagon barrel measures 24" in length and wears the original sights. The tube magazine is loaded toward the front and has a 7-round capacity. The rifle serial number 601 which is stamped on the left side of the upper tang, beneath the stock. The matching number is also on the butt plate. The top of the barrel is marked “Marlin Firearms Co. New Haven, CT. U.S.A. / PAT’D AUG.12.1890. MAR.1.’92 JUNE.8.’97. NOV.29.1904”. The top of the barrel at the receiver is marked “25-20” and “M”. The upper tang is marked “MARLIN / No. 27”. The left shoulder is marked “Special Smokeless Steel.” The bore shows light pitting the full length with strong rifling. The forearm has a crack that is shown in the pictures. The butt stock has an old crack at the lower tank that is also shown in the pictures. The bluing shows thinning, wear, freckling and a few small spots of pitting. The pictures show the condition so take a look at them since they show the complete rifle for your consideration. $599
