Selling off most of my collection at this time. Here's a rare bird, Colt Burgess saddle ring carbine.not to many made , I think 1630 or so, rifles and carbines were only chambered in 44/40, total produce was I think 6403. This one serial number 4161, I've a letter from Colt with shipping date. It has a very shootable bore and mechanics are excellent , no doubt she'd shoot and feed just fine. She's 138 years old, I've taken lots of pictures and can take more. These don't come around hardly ever.I had a Burgess rifle and it sold quick, I had a ton of calls later. She's got the 20" round carbine barrel, the little slide on the Colt ladder sight is missing , good luck with that. Has the lever latch and carbine butt plate. Has a front sling bracket , don't know , never seen another to compare. Wood no doubt is original whether it's been refinished over the years , I suppose it maybe has.I can't help that. Winchester had a gentlemen's agreement with Colt , you stop the lever rifles or we will make hand guns ! So I've been told, Colt switched into pump rifles after 16 months of building these 1883-1885. enough history , .
