Kittredge 7 Co. of Cincinnati, O. supplied the U.S. Govt. 131 of these carbines after the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. As the largest arms dealers in the country they also supplied 1366 to the State of Kentucky as well as 760 to Indiana for the use of their U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiments before the end of the war. The nicest of these we have had it is correctly chambered for the .44 Henry rim fire cartridge with the 24” octagon barrel and correctly equipped with sling swivels. Barrel properly stamped “F. WESSON’S PATENT/ OCT 25, 1859 & NOV. 11, 1862”and B. KITTREDGE & CO./CINCINNATI. O.”. All matching in the 8xx serial range. 100% original and in fine condition with much even blue-plum finish on the barrel. Nice original brown finish on frame. Trigger guard with some original finish. Trigger guard tang with very small old repair barely visible. Stock extra nice with all the finish showing light use and a nicely burnished handling patina. Working order and very fine bore.
