SUPERIOR CIVIL WAR JOSLYN OR JOSLYN’S PATENT U.S. CONTRACT MODEL 1862 CAVALRY CARBINE. Only 2200 purchased by U.S. Army Ordnance during the Civil War. All of which were issued early in the war and saw much use. This is the nicest of this model we have had. 100% original and matching with all the correct Ordnance Inspection stamps and a superb pair of Ordnance Inspector’s cartouches stamped above the sling ring bar. Barrel with 95% blue and lock plate with considerable color case hardening. Upper tang and ring bar mount with much original case hardening as well. Breech block with nearly all the blackish oil quenched dark case hardening. Stock with all the original finish. Beautiful unpolished brass mounts. Perfect working order and bright, near mint bore. Among the units armed with the Joslyn Model 1862 were the 1st Nevada and the 1st Nebraska Volunteer Cavalry Regiments which served in the Western theatre of operations.
