Parker Brothers and later, Remington/Parker, produced a total of 19 BHE Grade 28ga. guns, and only 1 as a SKEET GUN.  Knowing that the collector/shooter has little or no chance of ever owning one no matter how much money one might have, an upgraded BHE 28ga. allows us to fill a hole in a collection or have one of the most handsome of the small bore Parkers to shoot.  Many "craftsman" attempt upgrades, some doing so quite well, most "not so much".  But none could be more authentic than a BHE 28 ga. upgraded by Larry Del Grego Sr. in 1956.  Del Grego worked for Remington/Parker Gun Works since 1934, leaving in 1952 to start his own business repairing and restoring Parkers.  Remington eventually gave him all the Parker parts and designated his shop the official repair station.  Other senior craftsman from Parker joined with Del Grego in the 1950's, including Walter Nalenzy, stockmaker, Samuel Kencharek, metal finisher, and Robert P. Runge, chief engraver (evenings and weekends).  This fine BHE started as a VHE 28ga. with SST and ejectors and was upgraded by the same hands that would have built the gun for Parker Gun Works.  The value of an upgraded gun built by Parker employees at Del Grego's shop is supreme.  Signed by Runge and dated, it is a piece of history that is a wonderful investment opportunity and perfect for upland birds and clay targets. The 26" barrels marked "Acme Steel" retain 99% rust blue, excellent bores, choked and marked "Skeet in" and Skeet out", (.004/.006), 2 3/4" chambers (factory correct), bore diameter .560/.561, wall thickness 22 thou right, 23 thou left, no pits or scratches, ribs tight, no dents, double ivory beads, ejectors strong and timed, barrels tight on breech face, reinforced forend lug for beavertail forend, all in excellent shape.  The receiver is engraved to Parker perfection by Parker's chief engraver Robert P. Runge, signed and dated, 100% case color, perfect screws, action tight with lever well right of center, Single Selective Trigger gold plated and checkered, trigger guard 100% blue, mechanically excellent in every way.  The engraving is sharp and clear, spectacular!  The nicely figured English stock retains all of its original finish, perfect checkering, no cracks or repairs, skeleton butt plate, beavertail forend with reinforcing rod, superb wood to metal fit, 14 1/4" LOP from rear position single trigger, 2 1/4" drop at heel, 1 3/8" drop at comb, 3/16" cast off, all to factory perfection.  This is a very rare opportunity to own a Parker upgraded by the last of the original Parker employees to a rare BHE 28ga. Skeet gun.  The workmanship is of the highest quality and remains in as new condition after all these years.  The gun has been fired, so it does not have to stay a "closet queen" but instead can be used as intended for upland birds and clays.  If you have ever considered building a complete collection of Skeet Guns or other small-bore Parkers, this is your chance to fill a spot that would be impossible with an original Meriden or Remington Parker.  Because of its provenance and the fame of its makers, the value will continue to climb as years go by, making it a solid investment as well.  Weighing 6lbs. 1oz. and feeling just right in hand, it is a joy to hold.  Thanks for looking!
