ATA Arms ATA Sporter 12ga 30”
An exceptional choice for the money, the ATA Sporter is a gun designed to bust clays and strike down challenging targets. Slightly heavier than its Game counterpart, the Sporter models features a wider 10mm rib for faster target acquisition and a ventilated mid rib to speed barrel cooling. Versatile in its design the Sporter can be used across a multitude of disciplines with a variety of loads, up to and including the popular 3″ magnum. Each ATA Sporting model comes with 5 flush fitted multi chokes. This particular shotgun Serial 19-S3265 is fitted with the adjustable comb on a very attractive and well figured butt stock. I feel adjustable combs are a must for the evolving shooter. Standard features include, Oil Finished Turkish Walnut, matte blue finish on barrel and receiver minimizes glare, tang mounted safety selector also selects barrel discharge order.
Being the company skeptic, I was reluctant to give the guns much serious consideration when Mr. Cole insisted I try it out. I am glad he did. I have been shooting the Black Sporter 12/30” with the optional adjustable comb and thus far(approximately 4800 rounds) have had not one single negative issue to complain about. The gun is a near clone of the Beretta 686 series. There are some internal differences, but it locks up very similar to the 686 and uses a Caesar Guerini style forend. When I pulled the gun down and inspected the interior lock work I was pleasantly surprised to see a high degree of fit and finish. This is an exceptionally sound choice for the aspiring shooter or parent of a new shooter who may or may not be committed to the clay target game. The gun is certainly suitable for field use as well so long as one uses the safety when hunting. Come try it out I have one in my demo fleet.
