The blade itself has a bright, original polish with gold washed, etched panels on either side, and some thin freckling near the tip, and on the long ricasso. The obverse panel has "Cambridge Commandery" surrounded by filigree, and the "BENT / & BUSH / BOSTON / MASS" trademark panel on the ricasso. The reverse has the name of the owner: "Charles R. Shaw" in the central panel. The hilt has ornate, flared quillons, black grip with cross, and a knightâs head pommel with chain guard. The gold wash finish on the furniture is mostly bright, but has worn to the underlying dark brown brass on the exposed edges and projections. The felt bumper is no longer present. The scabbard has a matching gold wash finish, and the red and blue enamel inlays are still intact. This is a very nice looking, Boston-mad Knights Templar sword, in fine-excellent condition.
