Description:
"

The Model 1818 cavalry saber has a 32 inch blade, is iron mounted, and has a leather grip (long gone on this example) and iron scabbard. The blade on this saber is bright with scattered staining, a few areas of roughness, and a manufacturing defect in front of the fuller on the right. It is marked US/P/JN/N. STARR. The guard is dated 1821. The scabbard is good with the upper hangar swivel missing and an approx. 2"" split at the upper rear seam. This sword was inspected by John Newbury as a part of a lot of 1,000 on July 3, 1821. This is a nice overall example of the Starr U.S. Model 1818 cavalry saber.
