The Underwood's Barrel Date Is 12-43. The carbine's serial number is 2473603. This carbine has the standard 18 Inch barrel chambered for the 30 M1 Carbine cartridge. The sights are the correct early style sights with the rear sight having the two position flip sight. The bore is in very fine condition with sharp lands. All of the parts are correctly Underwood coded for the serial number range and time frame. There are no reconditioned parts or any rebuilds. The original parkerized finish is fully intact. The bolt is correctly blued. The trigger housing is the correct stamped style. The stock has the correct UEF GHD in a box on the right side of the stock. In the sling well is marked P U. The hand guard is also properly coded for Underwood. This carbine also has the Underwood coded oiler and magazine. The sling is a standard World War Twosling. The action works smoothly and operates correctly. The stock shows service wear and use. There is no abuse with this carbine. This carbine shows more carry wear than ever being fired. This is a very nice original second block M1 carbine that has not been restored or rebuilt. This is an original veteran's take home carbine. Underwood produced 8.9% of all of the carbines produced in World War Two. That was a total of 545616 carbines produced.
