The heavy cardboard box it came in also served as its target backstop. The .177 caliber BBs had a velocity of about 100 feet per second. It is propelled by a rubber bungee tube. The Indoor Target gun was introduced in mid-1947. At a $15 list price it was not a good seller. Other BB guns, and even 22 caliber rifles, were selling for less. By early 1949 the assets of the bankrupt Johnson Automatics had been sold. This gun is marked on the right side of the stock INDOOR TARGET GUN/JOHNSON AUTOMATICS U.S.A./PATS. PENDING. All the metal retains approx. 98% of its original blue and the plastic stock is in excellent condition. The complex adjustable rear peep sight is present. The gun is non-functioning as the plastic BB carrier is missing (and the bungee would need replacement with surgical tubing). If you own a Johnson rifle, this Indoor Target Gun can be its mate!
