Description:
Manufactured in 1895, this rifle started life as a .40-65 but was converted to 50 Express. This conversion was more than likely done at the factory but a letter to that effect is unavailable. Solid old used gun with near mint bore and good tight and solid action. The wood has a couple of ding and marks that would be considered more than light handling but you can still see some finish at places. The finish on the barrel has a nice even patina with small areas of finish in protected areas. Case color is faint but visible. It has a little loss of wood around the tang and receiver but otherwise the wood to metal fit is very good. Has never been sanded or refinished in any way. Tried to take pictures of the worst areas. Screws are basically unmolested. With an octagon barrel and curved butt plate, this 50 EX Winchester would be a nice addition to most Winchester collections.
