The author of the definitive book on Colt Open Top .22’s, Robert Swartz, and an expert on antiquarian engraving, contacted me after seeing this gun the day it was listed. He indicated that the engraving was done by Nimschke, and he included a descriptive photo of Nimschke’s work as a reference.
