Description:
Serial number on the barrel is 109390 and the serial number on the frame is 120995, .44 caliber, 8" inch octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This revolver has about 75-80% of the original blue remaining with the balance turned to a smooth plum-brown patina that exhibits some fading and silvering along the exposed edges. The cylinder has a blue and plum-brown patina with a gray turn-ring, and some very mild pitting on the front face. The brass trigger guard has a fairly bright yellow-ochre patina and the walnut grips (which retain an added military oil finish) are in very good condition with scattered small handling marks and surface blemishes, heaviest on the butt of the right side panel, and small chip at the toe on the left. The government cartouche is still rather crisp on the left side, but is somewhat obscured by a large bruise on the right. The mechanism is tight and functions flawlessly. This is a great Civil War era revolver with quite a lot of original finish remaining with what we assume is a replacement barrel. Antique
