Description:
Manufactured in 1943 this pistol is not a complete matching gun but is period correct, primarily it has a Type 2 recoil spring plug not the correct Type 3 plug. Inspected by Waldmar Broburg, the inspector from SN: 750,000 through 845,000. As well, it has the correct "P" proof marks on both the slide and the frame and the Colt "VP" verified proof on the front left side of the trigger guard and the assembler's number, 40, on the opposite side. This gun possesses a later "Two-Tone" slide, which is caused by the hardening process and is present in guns made between 1942-1945. .45 Auto

Metal Condition: "Good, holster wear is very prevalent on this gun. Much of the finish on the forward edges has work off. Otherwise, no scratches or corrosion is present.
Wood Condition: "Very Good, no cracks or chips are visible. some of the texture has worn down or has takes some kind of impact and flattened out slightly. There is some brass fowling from the fittings on the holster.
Bore Condition: "Good, some fouling with good rifling.
Barrels: 5" GI barrel with type 6 wartime markings. "COLT 45 AUTO" and "P" marked on the lower left side of the chamber and "G" at the six o'clock position forward of the barrel link.
Triggers: Short 1911A1 type trigger with checkered face.
Fore End: Type 7 "Coltwood" plastic grips. Type 3 round mainspring housing and 1911A1 type grip safety.
Weight: 3lbs
Sights: "Type B front sight, round with square profile .058"" wide. Type B rear sight, flat top with U-notch.
