In memoriam: Robert Bromley Valade, 1941-2016.
CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Whereas Robert Bromley Valade was born on October 22, 1941, in Union County, Oregon, to Darrell and Irene Valade; and
Whereas Robert Bromley Valade grew up in La Grande, Oregon, where he broke horses, picked fruit, worked as a hunting guide and flew small planes, but discovered that his true passion was for art; and
Whereas Robert Bromley Valade began engraving early in life when other children would re- quest that he scratch designs on their prized possessions; and
Whereas Robert Bromley Valade’s first professional engraving job was in 1968 for famed saddle maker Charlie Baker; and
Whereas although a self-taught engraver, Robert Bromley Valade forged a remarkable career and become an internationally renowned artist with a string of illustrious clients, including pilot Chuck Yeager and actors Clint Eastwood, Roy Rogers and John Wayne; and
Whereas Robert Bromley Valade engraved guns, knives, hatchets, saddles, lighters, belt buckles, fishing rods and even a drum set for musician Ringo Starr; and
Whereas Robert Bromley Valade was proudest of the set of Colt Army Model single-action revolvers he engraved for Ronald Reagan shortly after Reagan was elected President of the United States; and
Whereas in an era when most engraving is done by machines or using other expedited methods, Robert Bromley Valade was one of fewer than 50 master engravers in the United States who used traditional tools and methods to craft his beautiful designs by hand; and
Whereas despite his celebrity clients and his own reputation as an engraving icon, Robert Bromley Valade was as legendary for his humility and kindness as he was for his remarkable art- work; and
Whereas Robert Bromley Valade met his future wife, Joann, in a high school English class, and they went on to share a marriage that lasted half a century; and
Whereas Joann and Robert Bromley Valade made Seaside, Oregon, their home for the last two decades of their life together; and
Whereas Robert Bromley Valade died on November 1, 2016; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon:
That we, the members of the Eightieth Legislative Assembly, honor and celebrate the life and accomplishments of master engraver Robert Bromley Valade; and be it further

- ALL OF MY TRANSACTIONS ARE DONE THROUGH MY FFL with whom I have a very solid relationship. If you buy a guns from me, you’ll pay them (this may vary from time to time), they will ship to your FFL of choice and all dealings will be with them post receipt of funds. They are a high end boutique gun dealer in the Texas Hill Country and can accommodate the entire transaction. If you live in Texas and want to drive to see one of my guns, reach out to me to discuss making an appointment with my FFL – I do not show guns at my home nor do I meet guys at public locations for viewings or sales. ALL GUNS ARE LEGALLY TRANSFERRED through my FFL – there are NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Certified funds are preferred – if you send a personal check for payment the FFL ships one week after receipt. Certified funds payments – shipments are done next business day. NO CREDIT CARD payments are accepted.
- I encourage you to shoot the guns you buy from me – so during your 3 day inspection – shoot the gun. Make sure it is operating in the manner you expected. If you are not happy – return the gun for a full refund except shipping costs.
