Description:
Iver Johnson Nickel Plated Hammerless Top Break 38-S&W Carry Pistol with Faux Pearl Grips
Safety Automatic

This is what’s Considered in Guns & Ammo as an Honest Revolver.   We are offering a used Iver Johnson, 4-Inch Top Break Carry Piece, In 38 S&W, with Faux Pearl Grips.  The grips are fitted well

This piece has a rugged “take no prisoners” appearance, and the mechanical condition promotes a reliability that makes you glad to strap it on every morning.

This model is called the Safety Automatic. The safety Automatic allows the firing pin to be controlled by the trigger and a safety bar. When the trigger resets, the firing pin mechanically pulls back into the receiver, and the hammer moves away from the transfer bar.

If the revolver is dropped or banged or even if the hammer is hit by a hammer, (Iver Johnson advertising calls this “Hammer the Hammer”). Even if all of that happened in succession, the revolver will not accidentally fire. The trigger must be pulled all the way to the rear for the transfer bar/ firing pin to be engaged.

The Iver Johnson patent on the Safety Automatic Began in 1895 and lasted to 1905.  Guns were also built with the Safety Automatic System by the U.S. Revolver Company; U.S. Revolver is an 0ff-shoot of The Iver Johnson Corp.  In modern times, (Now), the safety bar is used in most revolvers. “Thank you Iver Johnson.” The Safety Automatic design, allows the gunman to safely carry the piece fully loaded.  He can also make use of smokeless ammo with this revolver.

Today’s offering shows an honest amount of carry, and not much actual shooting. The barrel is still shiny, with lands and groves very visible. We place the remaining finish at 90%.
This piece caries a good appearance overall.  It is a sturdy nickel-plated firearm, that we have cleaned and oiled, as we do with all firearms that we put up for resale.  We also inspect indexing, using Snap Caps, (dummy rounds).  We found that this firearm’s indexing is well within normal limits, and we consider this firearms systems and action to be “Range Ready”

This firearm is still a more than middle aged, and should be checked out by a qualified gunsmith before taking it to the range, (Gunsmiths can see things that we might miss). We recommend a gunsmith that has owned or successfully worked on Iver Johnson Top Break Revolvers.

The buyer is responsible for the initial shipping charges, ($35.00). We ship through our FFL provider.   We will try to accommodate the buyer’s method of shipping as we can.  We cannot ship until all checks are cashed. The firearm is shipped to your FFL provider for identification and registration. We allow a three-day inspection period. Any return shipping is the buyer’s responsibility. Ammo and Speed Loaders are not included in the sale.   We do not have the capacity to be paid by Credit Card.  Money Orders, Bank Checks, Bank transfers, and Personal Checks are our vehicles of sale.

The more I handle this firearm the more I ask myself; "Self? "Why am I selling this"  When I pick up this piece, it just feels like it belongs in my hand. It feels like it was handed to me by the spirit of J. B. Hickok. (Without the border spin):

Thanks for monitoring our .
