F 10th Calvary were “Buffalo Soldiers" (Black Soldiers) Indians named them Buffalo Soldiers. They were originally formed at FT. Leavenworth Kansas in 1866 and subsequently saw Indian War action in Kansas Oklahoma (Indian Nation) and Texas. They were stationed at FT. Concho, Texas among other forts and fought the Cherokee and most notably the Apache under Chief Victorio and Geronimo. The Buffalo Soldiers were well respected by the Indians and the soldier’s exploits were legendary. This 1860 Army was refurbished after the Civil War and re-issued to the 9th and 10th Calvary. As a result of the rework and the re-issue those guns were mismatched and cylinders were turned down and the cylinder scene was removed. This revolver is marked “F 10 Cav" on both the trigger guard and the right side of the barrel near the wedge. Bore is good plus. Gun is smooth and has blue in protected areas. Trigger guard is also U.S marked. Great piece of Indian War history! SOLD Antique: Yes |
