An attractive, quality back action hammer gun from the 1800s in fine condition.
Scroll engraved, Birmingham proofs, marked “Mortimer and Sons” on lock plate and “Mortimer Edinburgh” on barrel. Forend fastened with captured wedge. 30.5 inch blued fluid steel barrel. Barrel transitions from octagon to 16 sided to round with a wedding band. Cylinder bore, light pitting, 2.5 inch chamber, thick barrel wall at 40 thousands. No serial number.
14 inch pull, 1.25 inch drop at comb, 2.25 inch drop at heel. Checkering and finish are original and in nice condition.
At 5.5 lbs this is a delightful gun for hunting snipe.
