Description:
General Specs: G. Defourny, Year 1951, .410 Gauge, 5lbs 14oz, Chokes F/F, LOP 14" to rear trigger, DAH 2 7/16", DAC 1 7/16"
Serial Number: 10202

The Defourny dynasty of gunmakers was in play from the early 1800’s through mid-twentieth century when this fine .410 bore was produced.  The Defourny family was prolific both in child-bearing and gunmaking, with no less than 15 siblings and cousins involved as bona fide gunmakers over a 150 year period of Belgium high-quality firearms production.  This little .410, sn10202 made in 1951, is a fine example of a mid-grade boxlock ejector gun with all the features you could want in a pee-wee bore game gun, ie nicely engraved action, English stock, diminutive beavertail forend, single selective trigger, ejectors, high-quality Siemens Martin Nitro steel barrels with ventilated rib, excellent stock dimensions and perfect mechanics.  The gunmaking center of Belgium was Liege, where many of the finest shotguns in Europe were produced, including this little Defourny.  This beautiful Defourny boxlock has 5 separate locking mechanisms that include 2 underlug bolts, Greener style cross-bolt, rib extension, and through action barrel lug.  These locking mechanisms combine to prevent up and down movement through the dual underlug locking bolts and Greener cross bolt, lateral movement through the rib extension and through action barrel lug, and fore and aft movement the through action barrel lug and Greener cross bolt.  This is a very strong action.  The 26” barrels retain 98% factory blue, mirror bores, tight ribs with a nicely raised vent rib, and they lock up tight to the hinge pin and breech face.  WHEN YOU MOUNT THIS GUN WITH THE VENTILATED RIB YOU DO NOT SEE THE RIGHT AND LEFT BARREL…JUST THE RIB, MAKING IT SIGHT LIKE AN OVER/UNDER OR AUTO LOADER.  The mechanics operate to perfection, with strong, well-timed ejectors, crisp triggers, and the top lever to right of center.  The wood-to-metal fit of the buttstock is superb, with protrusions at the top head of the stock mating to the rebated frame to prevent “splaying” and cracking, and the long tang trigger guard inletted to perfection.  There are no cracks or repairs to the wood and the flor-de-lis checkering is in excellent condition.  The well-shaped beavertail forend is just big enough to feel nice in hand without being at all bulky, and the fit, finish, and fancy checkering are top-notch.  We all know it is hard to find a fine double shotgun in .410 bore anywhere in the marketplace, but finding one with all of the premium features built by one of the most recognized double gun makers in Belgium that IS AFFORDABLE AND SUITED TO THE PURSUIT OF GAME OR BUSTING CLAYS is a true find!  This is a full-sized shotgun with great stock dimensions and tiny muzzles that set the .410 bore apart from the rest.  Have fun chasing upland game or breaking clays, and this gun will last for decades to come.  Small gauge shotguns are great investment guns and are always in demand.  Don’t miss out on this feature rich Defourny shotgun.  Thanks for looking!
