Description:
This 1926 vintage Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring "Trapper" is fitted with a 15 inch barrel, full length tube magazine, walnut stock and forearm, blade front sight, adjustable carbine ladder style rear sight, and is chambered in .30 W.C.F. (30-30).  Trappers with barrels 15 inches and shorter had unique features, such as a shorter forearm, 8 inches in length rather than 9 inches, forged front sight base to barrel with pinned blade, and the barrel stamping was located between the front sight and the barrel/foream band.  These guns are very rare and were never a Winchester cataloged item, were than discontinued in 1933.  Most were sent to Australia, South America, and the American southwest.  This 94 "Trapper" is in excellent original condition, retaining 70% original blue on the barrel and magazine tube.  The receiver has lost all of its original blue, most likely from flaking, and has turned a silver/brown/grey patina.  The lower grip tang retains 80% orignal blue, the lever and hammer, about 20%.  The steel butt-plate retains traces of original blue, with the rest having turned a silver/grey patina.  The bore is somewhat bright, with sharp rifling , but there is a very light coating of corrosion.  The action is crisp with a tight lock-up.  The stock and forearm look untouched and retain 90% of their original finish, with assorted handling marks, the worst being a scuff by the right side of the upper tang/behind the hammer. It appears this gun was handled much, but fired very little.  Comes with a Dept. of the Treasury letter determining this gun as a Curio and Relic.  Also included is a April 2016 "I have this old gun" article from the "American Rifleman" regarding the Winchester Model 94 "Trapper".  Sorry, no box or other paper-work.                                           PRICE:   SOLD      We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974.                    PH. 859-276-1419         We Buy, Sell and Trade Firearms & Knives.    Have a Individual FirearmFirearms Collection, or Firearms Estate to sell, let us know, we can buy or consignment sell it for you.                   NOTE:  No additional fee for a Credit Card payment.
