Description:
Serial #60225, .380 CF, 26 inch octagon barrel with a very good, bright bore that has minor freckling and pitting along its length. This is a handsome tip-up rifle that has an overall smooth plum-brown patina along the barrel, and areas of original bright blue still present on the sides of the frame. The breech is marked: “ARMY & NAVY C.S.L. LONDON" on the top flat, and has the Tranter “football" logo the left side of the frame. The rifle is fitted with the original target bead front, and triple-leaf rear sights. The lock-up is still tight, and the automatic extractor functions well, although there is some minor deformation of the firing pin nose from opening without the hammer at half-cock. The walnut buttstock is in very good shape, having a few scattered handling marks and minor blemishes, while the checkered wrist has relatively sharp points. This is a very nice, Army & Navy CSL-marked Tranter rook rifle, and rates very good-fine condition overall. Antique
