Description:
I have for sale a Lovely Fox DE grade serial number 23590 built I believe in 1917. This is a straight grip gun with a Kautsky single selective trigger in the "middle" position. It features  12 gauge 32inch barrels with factory original 3 inch chambers, straight English grip butt, and splinter forend. The barrels have chokes measuring .034 (Full) and .044 (extra full). As noted earlier the barrels have 3 inch chambers which are marked on the barrel flats and recorded on the original factory order sheet. When the gun came to me it had a loose top rib and a barely visible but stable crack in the wrist. I commissioned Bryndon Steele to strip and relay the rib and rust blue the barrels and he did a wonderful job. Barrels now ring like the preverbal church bells with clear crisp lettering and engraving. I then had Mark Larson address the stable crack which he did by repairing the crack internally and then working his magic to hide the crack on the outside while only needing to blend the finish in that area of repair. So to be clear the stock and receiver have original finishes with only the barrels and the small wrist area having been addressed. Checkering and case coloring are all original and lovely. There is a right/left bore diameter discrepancy that is somewhat perplexing and very likely something that will never be fully explained. The right bore measures .729 and the left bore measures .739. As stated earlier, chokes are .034 and .044 respectfully. Backbored for extra choke? Possibly. If so, the work appears to be exactly the same in both barrels with both chokes exactly the same length and polish the same in both tubes. Barrel walls measure a minimum of .035 in the right tube and .032 in the left. A possible explanation of this is on the order card where it is written "see Mr. Roll” when targeting". Also stamped on the barrel flats are the initials RP encased in a circle on the left barrel flat. I have inquired with other fox guys, but no one that I have spoken with has seen this stamp before. What I can say with surety, the barrels have plenty of wall thickness remaining regardless of how the discrepancy originated. Stock dimensions are 1 5/16 X 2 X 14 3/8 over a new Silvers pad with neutral cast, which is exactly how it left the factory as called out on the order sheet. Weight of the gun is 8 pounds even. Selective ejectors are strong and well timed. To be clear, this gun will letter exactly as it sits today and is in wonderful condition with great wood to metal fit, beautiful sharp engraving, all numbers matching with lovely wood with original finishes. This is a gun anyone would be proud to own. Price of the gun was $22,500 now $19,500 with a three day non-firing inspection period beginning upon delivery at your dealer. Look at the pictures and I think you will agree this is a special gun. Contact me with any questions you might have. Many more pictures available upon request.
