Description:
Fantastic and unaltered Winchester Model 54 30-06 in very high condition. S/N 50523A with matching scribed bolt is one of the very last produced, just prior to introduction of the Pre War Model 70 in 1936-37.
The original bluing is a remarkable 98% including the fragile bottom metal, which is about the best I have ever seen on the many 54s that I have handled and sold. The original wood finish is not far behind with great color and sheen and showing rather insignificant handling marks considering it being a well over 80 year old rifle!
The barrel is 24" with minty, shiny bore and the mechanics are silky smooth and functioning correctly. There is a correct factory inletted and installed long slide Lyman 48 receiver sight with correct corresponding Lyman 12S dovetail filler in the barrel's rear sight dovetail. The component #s of this sight match and it has good positive adjustment clicks. The front sight is a period Lyman globe with coarse post insert.
One of the nicest 54s I have seen, and in the scarcest and most desirable NRA stock configuration. It would be very difficult to ever improve upon this one!
