Description:
<<<<SOLD>>>>The Lorenz rifle was the third most widely used rifle during the American Civil War. The Union recorded purchases of 226,924 and the Confederacy bought as many as 100,000. Confederate-bought Lorenz rifles saw heavy use in the Army of Tennessee in 1863–64, with many of them being issued to re-equip regiments captured at the siege of Vicksburg and later exchanged. On the Union side, continental European firearms were mostly distributed to the Western armies—as such, the Lorenz Rifle was relatively uncommon in the Army of the Potomac (although two regiments of the famous Iron Brigade carried them) but heavily used by the Army of the Cumberland and Army of the Tennessee. This fine gun appears to be an artillery or sargents carbine and looks very original to me with all the parts aged equally and smooth wear with an iron ram-tod with a brass faced tip . The barrel is 29" long, and has a caliber of 13.9mm. An experienced soldier could fire about two to three rounds per minute. The German hardwood stock is very good with normal wear , and the lockplate is numbered 860, and the side plate CK . In front of the trigger guard and the back end of the triggerguard the stock has dryness, thin line cracks, but not open or debilitating., Action works very well, and the rifled bore has strong rifling and surface corrosion. The front sling swivel looks like a brown bess type and may be a recent replacement? I consider this a scarce gun! When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost.   We don’t have a web  site .I prefer money orders or a check.  Item ships when funds come in. I try to keep guns  affordable, which means I make less money than most dealers. You won’t get altitude sickness, or nose bleed, with my prices! I consistently have the best selection of  older guns If you attempt to buy,  you must still contact us for details . Best to email to buy. Sometimes a local person can stop buy and purchase before the gun is removed.  Sometimes not home to get calls. Some guns are required shipment to a gun dealer near you for a transfer to you when it arrives. Otherwise many older or black powder guns ship to your door. With the widest selection of older guns at great prices, We don’t have a store, and sell on the internet only.  I’m easy to get along with. Thank You
