Description:
This Colt "Baby" Lightning rifle in .22 short is a rare beauty! Gun functions perfectly and appears to still be in its original finish. The Rampant Colt is boldly engraved on the left side of the receiver. Protected areas of the barrel, magazine, and receiver still show areas of lustrous blue, with the remainder of the gun turning a nice gray/brown patina. No active corrosion or pitting; this rifle was well cared for. Bore is very good, with strong rifling its entire length. Magazine loading block snaps open and closed with authority, and action cycles smoothly. The barrel's rear sight has been removed and the dovetail nicely filled with a non-metallic filler. Gun is equipped with a correct vintage tang sight that is missing its tension spring; otherwise the sight appears intact. The stock and fore end show a few character marks, but are in remarkable condition for their age, with no chips or cracks. The original hard rubber buttplate is complete and intact as well. A rare and desirable Colt rifle, in remarkable condition!
