Description:
Extremely rare and very early Parker Hammer gun. This gun is an extremely rare 11 bore with 30-7/8" barrels (uncut). Made with wedge fastened splinter forend, double triggers, skeleton buttplate and incredible rams horn carved stock with shell carving on grip. This feature is only seen on the very first early high grade guns and only roughly 5 or 6 of these carved stocks are known to knowledgeable collectors. See the photos of this incredible feature. This gun is beautifully engraved, most likely by Jacob Glahn, though no signature noted.
This gun was confirmed as an original 11 bore gun by noted 11 bore enthusiast and researcher Richard Hoover.
The gun remains in pleasing original condition with about 25% original case color. Barrels have toned brown with some pattern remaining. Stocks are sound with thinned checkering and normal handling marks for a 145 year old gun. Bores do show some pits but are serviceable and this gun has been fired by the previous owner with 12ga chamber mates. Screws are all very good.
This gun presents a once in a lifetime opportunity for the serious student of the early Parker hammer gun. These carved stock guns are impossible to source- and this gun an elusive 11ga to boot! This gun is priced at $11,500 shipped.
