SOLD Joab Hapgood Rifle, made mid-19th century, .36 caliber, with American walnut Stock in very good condiition. Finely crafted German silver fittings, lock marked "HAPGOOD," with an octagonal barrel length of . 31 3/8 in., with strong rifilong but corrosion down in the grooves , as good candidate for re-rifling to maaybe .40 or .44 cal as the heavy barrel is about .950" in diameter.Overall the total length is about 48" long. Fancy quality woekmanship , and this maker was buliding guns in the 19th century around Boston, Massachesetts. The back action hammer works well and the nipple looks servicable.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
