Description:
Elliots Pocket revolver in 22 short with 6 shot revolving barrel and zig zag grooves at the breech end, a key part of the revolving mechanism. Barrel is 3 & 3/16ths.
Ring type derringer double action system with concealed hammer.
Loads through port in frame, has hard rubber grips.
Original finish is blue and this example does not retain much of the original finish. Mostly smooth metal and some patina.
All mechanics work as should, no lock ups or slips.
Markings: ELLIOT'S PATENT/AUG 17, 1858/MAY 29, 1860,. and MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTON'S, ILION, NEW YORK
This was Remingtons first handgun designed for metallic cartridge ammunition
Produced 1861 - 1862 with less than 1000 made.
It is very likely that this gun was used during the civl war.
