Description:
This is a spectacular Winchester High Wall 1885 in .270 Winchester with a 24-inch, medium-weight barrel (with no sights). It was customized by PO Ackley and Hal Hartley and engraved by renowned Austrian engraver Hans Obiltschnig.

The left side of the chamber area is signed with PO Ackley's name and the caliber of the rifle: .270 Winchester. The rifle also features a single set trigger, and a vintage Weaver V-9 II scope mounted atop Leupold bases. The rifle is set in spectacular European walnut with diamond point checkering and a matching forearm that has a Schnabel tip. The pistol grip stock features a shadowline/pancake cheekpiece and a sculpted and engraved buttplate.

The left side of the receiver has a large raised vignette of four elk with a very finely detailed background. The right side is exquisitely engraved with a large raised vignette of three Dall sheep in an equally elaborate mountain scene. The remainder of the receiver has full coverage foliate Arabesque with a very finely detailed background. The grip cap is engraved to match, with the center round vignette of the raised head of a dall sheep. The receiver and buttplate are both signed by Mr. Obiltschnig.

This is one of the most spectacular custom rifles. It is in extremely fine condition and appears to be unfired since completion. The barrel and lever retain the bright custom blue. The receiver, butt plate, and grip cap are coin-finished. The wood is sound and retains virtually all of its custom finish, with several small pressure dings. The mechanics are crisp and the bore is bright and shiny. The optics are fine.
