SOLD A 17th ~18th Century High Grade Pirate Ship' Captain's Silver Mounted Exquisite long flintock pistol with a 14" rpound barrel of about .56 caliber, and the lock unmarked works well also. Overall length is about 21 1/2" long, with deep floral engraving on top of the barrel near the breech. Most of the European walnut stock is covered with silver ornate designs and silver wire. As seen in the photos this gun was carreid quite often to naval engagements, and boarding battles from the wear on the right sside along the barrel where the gun was pushed into a sash or holster for carrying. Ramrod tube at the front is b now dented in and may have held a wooden ram-rod or possibly it was decoration as naval pistol didin;t have an attcahed ramrod , with onky one shot fired and then the pistol butt-cap was used as a skull-crusher.. The age and use of the pistol , one would have toassume that there had been repairs or restoration? As flintlock pistols were a toll and sometimes used for ore than 100 years. The excellnet workmanshio looks like it could be of French origin? When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
