Description:
This Ithaca AA grade 10ga hammer gun is in very fine original condition, has 2 7/8” chambers, 32” Damascus barrels and weighs about 9 lbs. Made on the Flues action with coil springs, the model NTBH (New Two Bolt Hammer model) was only listed in the company’s 1915 catalog and is reported discontinued in 1916. Unlike all other model NTBH guns observed that have 2 bolting surfaces, this gun has a 3rd fastener – a round top bolt. With serial no. 240761 it would have been made in 1913. It is in original untouched configuration – lock, stock & barrel. About 50% case colors remain. The oil finished walnut stock is in near excelllent condition with excellent checkering, the most minor handling marks, and the original Ithaca butt plate appears "new". The Damascus barrel pattern is excellent and bores are perfect. This gun was proved for 2  7/8” nitro powder loads. It is not safe with current 10 gauge 3 ½” shells. This is a very nice example of a very rare 108 year old gun. A better one would be almost impossible to find.

The Flues “New Two Bolt Hammer” model (NTBH) was made briefly from 1913-16 in 10, 12, and 16 gauge in grades X, A, AA, B, C, D & E. It was made on the Flues action with coil springs. The “Two Bolt” feature refers to the fact that it had a single “under bolt” and a “top bolt” on the rib extension. Previous Ithaca hammer guns had a single locking bolt. The New Two Bolt Hammer model was only listed in the Ithaca 1915 catalog. It did not appear to be a good seller. The number of this model made is apparently unknown, but they are very scarce. So much so that Walt Snyder did not mention it in his book on Ithaca double barrel guns. But a copy of the 1915 catalog pictured there shows the avaliable models at the time.
