We are sure proud to offer this fine example of Marlin's 1893. Made in the year of our Lord 1900, she boasts special order features of a select pistol grip stock and a half octagonal, half round barrel. These features are verified by the Cody Museum, and I believe we have a formal letter for this rifle. If we can find it, it will be sent to the new owner. She is in good condition for being 121 years old. The blue is fairly strong, thinning at the muzzle and along the receiver. The nicely figured walnut has only minor handling marks, and a not so good fit around the tangs that a good wood man might be able to improve. The action is smooth and crisp, and the bore of the 26 inch barrel chambered in the potent 30-30 is bright with strong rifling. Marlin rifles have really gained value the past few years. I believe collectors finally figured out that only about 360 thousand were made, and that includes all models of rifle from the 1881 to the 1897. Compare that to over 6 million Winchester 1894's made. If you have been looking for the right 1893 to collect, for investment, or for a classy hunt, then look no further. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
